RST 2011: Chanel
You’ll forgive me for thinking some of Lagerfeld’s latest collection at Chanel was a tad ‘Murder, She Wrote’, because the safari tans and the muted pastels of his designs were reminiscent of the seventies, with the retro theme being developed through ruffles and groove-kicked prints. Chanel Ready-to-Wear have seriously dissapointed me with their Autumn/Winter collection, but this cruise collection shows a number of different styles and aesthetics, showing that Lagerfeld truly is a master of his art.

The white shirt was revived and the masculine shape made flattering by swashbuckling cummerbunds and puffed cuffs. Along the way, there was stripes, floral prints and mesh, but the best pieces, somewhat unsurprisingly, were the jackets. Altogether, Lagerfeld has created something that has restored my faith in Chanel as a brand: a doubt that, shamefully, was placed in my head.

Hurry up, Summer!
